"Keep doing what you've been doing." If you've been a giver of your money and have seen how much God has blessed you financially, don't shrink back. Keep doing what you've been doing. The phrase is a simplified message of the fundamental action habits required to attain an Accumulative Effect. The ironic thing is we naturally want to shrink back and stop taking the action steps that brought us some level of success. Because of our human nature to take the path of least resistance, it's a counter intuitive thought to keep stretching ourselves so that we can go to another level.
I mean, it’s easy to give 100 dollars every month, but what about when it’s 1,000 or 10,000 dollars a month? I remember my thoughts when I first started to tithe at my church. Thoughts like..... "It is MY money right? Why does God need it?" It’s when I switched my thinking and started taking steps of faith to give my tithe that everything changed. All of the resources belong to God anyway. We really are just stewards of the allotted 100% of money that we receive currently. Giving 10% back to him as a form of honor (Proverbs 3:9) and obedience (Exodus 19:5) now has become an enjoyable form of praise for me. It is also a give/give relationship between God and I that I rely on because I know that My God will supply all my needs. I give to him, then He gives to me! It’s Brilliant!
I promise you, if you will develop a habit of giving in your life, you will see so many blessings that you literally will not be able to store them. God actually says to test him in this give/give system that he has put in place (Malachi 3:10). For those of you telling yourselves you have nothing to give because of unemployment or other extreme situations, I would suggest that you find other avenues to give. Give your time and/or free labor, and I promise you will see blessings. I can remember a 3 month period of time in my life where I was living out of my car, but I still gave. Thankfully I was employed with a 24 hour gym membership. As a result of my faithful obedience in my giving, that season led to the very first time in my life becoming debt free and having my own place. I continue to grow in all areas of my life, and as I figure out more of the money game, the tithe and offering checks I write get bigger and bigger every year. I know without a shadow of a doubt I am a giver, and I have received so many blessing from God,
In closing, my strong belief and the blessings that have occurred as a result of giving, like most things in life, didn’t just happen overnight. What did occur were those small incremental trusting steps of faith that lead to more financial abundance in my life. I encourage you to combine both your development of faith and your accumulation of wealth and tithe as an expression of honor to God, and watch what God will do in your life.
